Phil Spencer is growing into a sort of mini news factory – keep an eye on his responses to fans on Twitter and all sorts of little details about Xbox’s future plans come to light. Even better, he seems to be finding out exactly what the fans want to know before they ask – almost as if, underneath the job and the branded T-shirts, he’s a real fan himself. What a mystery!
Today’s story concerns Xbox One’s backwards compatibility – and specifically just how backwards it plans to be. After a fan asked about whether original Xbox games could ever pop up on the service, Spencer came back with a jovial (if definitively non-specific) reply:
@HadleeSimons I don’t think it’s silly. I ask the BC team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 BC for now.August 19, 2015
Personally, I’m a big fan of the idea of Spencer sticking his head round a door and chirpily asking if they can do it yet. Every single day. While I doubt we’ll have an actual answer as to its possibility anytime soon, it’s pleasing to know that the wheels are at least partially in motion. If only so I can pretend that my console is powered by radioactive slime again:
