Fans of CGI six-packs and testosterone-fuelled shouting will be disappointed to learn that Warner has pushed 300: Rise Of An Empire back until March 2014.
The sequel to 300 , based on Frank Miller’s graphic novel Xerxes , will deal with events taking place at the same time as those in the first film as well as continuing the timeline further and exploring Xerxes’ back-story, with the titular Persian God-king continuing his advance on Greece and finding himself facing some typically spirited resistance.
“This is not a duplicate movie or a cookie-cutter,” says director Brian Murro of the new movie. “It’s a very different story to tell in keeping with the original flavour of 300 .” However, it sounds as though we’ll have to wait a little longer to see it…
The film had initially been scheduled to arrive in August of this year, but has been pushed back by more than six months to 7 March 2014. Just when we were getting geared up for some more swords, sandals and splatter!
No explanation has been given by the studio, although it’s not the only major Warner release to be shunted back through the schedule. Tom Cruise vehicle All You Need Is Kill has also been postponed, vacating its March 2014 date in favour of a new slot on 6 June 2014.
