X-Men: Destinys Comic-Con trailers detail voice talent, confirm September 27 release

Silicon Knights has had a bumpy decade, so it’s nice that it looks like the developer is getting back on track since the fiasco that was Too Human. The first step is the upcoming Marvel/Activision game X-Men: Destiny, a title that puts you in the shoes of a new recruit instead of one of the battle-hardened regulars. Comic-Con saw the release of a couple of trailers, one showing off the gameplay, another detailing one of the three main characters and voice actor that plays him, and both contain the useful information of when the game comes out.

As both trailers show, just because you play as original heroes doesn’t mean you aren’t surrounded by dozens of classic X-Men characters. From what we’ve seen, we’re optimistic about this one, as the serious choices that put the player between the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants sounds like a good hook. Additionally, the San Francisco setting has won over the Bay Area natives in the GR staff, even if the continually shifting ground of the setting isn’t all that close to reality. Despite its mistakes, we’re fans of Silicon Knights and will be watching September 27 to see if it all comes together for them this time.
