An unofficial Wii U Pro Controller designed to resemble a SNES pad has appeared at various online retailers. The controller replaces the official Pro Controller’s d-pad and face buttons with a SNES-inspired colour and design configuration. As many observers have previously noted, Nintendo’s official Wii U Pro Controller is strikingly similar to the input peripheral for a certain rival console. So this hybrid approximation of the Pro Controller looks like an unofficial SNES pad inside an unofficial Xbox 360 controller. Here it is:
The unofficial Wii U Pro Controller is made by accessory company Interworks Unlimited and is priced at $34.99 (roughly £30/€38). According to the product details, it’s universally compatible with Wii and Wii U, and is completely wireless. The only images we can find are Photoshop jobs like the one above, so we’re intrigued to see what the actual tangible physical finished product looks like.
