The Great Gatsby has unveiled two new TV spots, with its release fast approaching.
Baz Lurhmann’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel will open the Cannes Film Festival and is highly anticipated following its delay from its original Christmas release . Lurhmann ( Moulin Rouge ) directs a script co-written with writing partner Craig Pearce ( Romeo + Juliet ), and Leonardo DiCaprio ( Django Unchained ), Tobey Maguire ( Brothers ) and Carey Mulligan ( Shame ) lead the cast.
The film sees Nick Carraway (Maguire), a Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finding himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbour, Jay Gatsby (DiCaprio) and finds himself drawn into his social circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.
The TV spots are only 30 seconds each, but give us a good flavour of the flamboyant tone of the movie and how it’s not all about the glam, but also the grimmer side of life. “With Gatsby, anything can happen”. Looks like it too!
