Ryan Reynolds is set to voice the lead character in upcoming DreamWorks animation, Turbo .
The film follows a garden snail who dreams of becoming the world’s fastest, and gets the opportunity after a freak accident.
David Soren, who previously directed festive spin-off Merry Madagascar , will call the shots, having co-written the script with Darren Lemke ( Shrek Forever After ).
Reynolds has previous form with DreamWorks animation, as he’s already signed to voice a character in Chris Sanders’ caveman comedy, The Croods .
The Croods also stars Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone, and will be released in March 2013, a few months ahead of Turbo .
In related news, Reynolds has told the LA Times that he isn’t going to appear as the Green Lantern in the upcoming Justice League movie, saying: “That’s a whole business model and nothing to do with me at all.
“No one has ever approached me about doing a Justice League movie. We’ll see if they do it in the long run.”
This announcement adds further weight to the idea that Warners’ JLA will be a standalone movie, unlike Marvel’s The Avengers, which unites heroes set up in standalone movies.
