Mighty No. 9s coming in September, and backers get to play his rival for free

Mighty No. 9 will release a few months later than planned, but with a bunch of new stuff to make up for the wait. Comcept announced it’s working with publisher Deep Silver to distribute Keiji Inafune’s crowdfunded Mega Man successor.

Mighty No. 9 will release on September 15 in North America and on September 18 in the rest of the world. Kickstarter backers and buyers of the retail version – available on PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U – will also get the “Ray” DLC at no extra cost. Defeating No. 9’s rival in the downloadable Abandoned Lab stage will unlock him as a playable character for the rest of the game.

Digital versions of the game will be available on PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Mighty No. 9 will hit PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS “at a later date”.

The Deep Silver publishing deal will allow for Japanese voice-overs to be included with the game, on top of the previously confirmed English audio track. English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Polish, and Brazilian Portuguese subtitles will also be available.

Kickstarter backer backers pledged nearly $4 million (opens in new tab) to Mighty No. 9 in late 2013, where it remains the crowdfunding platform’s third-most-funded video game project ever – just ahead of Broken Age, which released in full (opens in new tab) today.
