A brand new teaser trailer has arrived for Macbeth, in which Michael Fassbender stars as the overreaching general led down a dark and bloody path by his scheming wife, menacingly played by Marion Cotillard.
The new trailer is a suitably grim-looking affair, shot in a palette of greys and browns with the occasional vivid dash of red, as Macbeth sets about his violent path to power. But despite the darkness, there’s a wild energy on show here that means the famous old tale has never seemed more vital…

Fassbender and Cotillard already looked a formidable double-act on paper, but in practice, they’re even more intense than we’d anticipated. The scene in which a single tear rolls down Fassbender’s face… goosebumps ahoy!
Directed by Justin Kurzel and co-starring David Thewlis, Sean Harris and Paddy Considine, Macbeth will open in the UK on 2 October 2015 with a US date to be confirmed.
