Sin City: A Dame To Kill For has added another big name to its ever-growing roster, with Josh Brolin signing on to play the key role of Dwight.
You might remember Dwight from the first outing, as the crusading warrior who helped a gang of tooled-up prostitutes fight off a set of brutal mercenaries. However, he looked a bit different then, as Clive Owen was playing him.
However, this shift in appearance will all be explained by the second film, according to the press release that announced the casting.
“Dwight is one of the favourite characters from Miller’s books and the 2005 film. In Sin City: A Dame To Kill For , Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to The Big Fat Kill and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.”
Co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller also released a joint statement, explaining that, “Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and A Dame To Kill For is a defining episode in his life. We’re looking forward to Josh’s take on Dwight.”
Co-starring Mickey Rourke, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson and Jessica Alba, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will open in the US on 4 October 2013.
