Game of Thrones season 7 releases a poster of ice and fire in preparation for the shows return

Game of Thrones season 7 (opens in new tab) has its first official poster and it’s full of fire, ice and, uhh, that’s about it. It looks cool though (Cool. Get it?). While the poster doesn’t hint at much, it’s at least promising to see it; it means Game of Thrones is just over the horizon.

Fire and ice have been synonymous with the Thrones series since George R.R Martin first (slowly) put pen to paper. It’s also not a stretch to suggest the characters of Danerys (she of fire-breathing dragon fame) and Jon Snow (who has spent far too long in the shivering climes North of the Wall) will meet up at some point, hence the mixing of fire and ice.

Other than that? Who knows. There’s still no clear-cut release date, with rumours ranging from June 25 (opens in new tab) to who-knows-when. It’s still a great opportunity to make terrible (f)lame puns. Icy what you did there etc etc.

Game of Thrones season 7 will debut sometime this summer on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK
