Ethan Hawke saddles up for The Magnificent Seven remake

Ethan Hawke is moseying on over to the Wild West for his next project. Variety reports that the Boyhood actor is in the final stages of locking down a part in MGM’s The Magnificent Seven remake.

Should the deal go through, Hawke will be reunited with his Training Day cohorts, director Antoine Fuqua and co-star Denzel Washington, who have both already committed to the movie.

He’ll also join two recent additions to the cast; Jurassic World’s Chris Pratt and The Equalizer’s Haley Bennett.

The film is touted as a remake of John Sturges’ 1960 seminal western that starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson – itself an Americanised reworking of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai.

With a first draft penned by True Detective’s Nic Pizzolatto, and a second version currently in the works from John Lee Hancock, The Magnificent Seven is shaping up to be a hot property indeed.
