Bruce Willis says Die Hard: Year One is a “really cool idea”

It looks as though the Die Hard prequel-cum-sequel, Die Hard: Year One is moving forwards, with Bruce Willis set to appear in tandem with a younger version of ass-kicking cop, John McClane. While the premise has attracted some criticism from fans and pundits alike, Willis is apparently fully on board with the idea.

To recap, the new film will largely be set in the ‘70s, where we’ll see how the young McClane came to be such a badass in the first place. That narrative will then be spliced together with a present-day adventure, with Willis back in the saddle as everyone’s favourite singlet-sporting maverick.

“It’s a very good idea, a really tricky idea, and I’m very happy about it,” said Willis in an interview with ET (opens in new tab). “It’s a really cool idea, because it’s the origin story. It’s gonna happen at the beginning of this. We’re going to bounce back and forth.” Sounds like it’s a done deal, then. Live Free Or Die Hard director Len Wiseman is currently working with producer Lorenzo DiBonaventura to bring the project to life, with no release date confirmed as yet.
