Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Claptastic Voyage dives into Claptraps mind

The last Season Pass pack for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (opens in new tab) will let you die in a place even more abjectly terrifying than the cold, lonely surface of an airless moon: Claptrap’s mind. Gearbox and 2K Australia have revealed Claptastic Voyage, a downloadable campaign add-on that sends Handsome Jack’s cronies deep into Claptrap’s inscrutable consciousness.

If you’re familiar with the ’60s sci-fi film Fantastic Voyage, you already know the basic premise of the campaign. Except instead of being shrunk down and injected into a brilliant scientist’s bloodstream to try and save his life, the vault hunters are digitized so they may retrieve a powerful secret deep within Claptrap’s artificial subsconscious.

And instead of white blood cells and other microscopic monsters, you’ll have to fight your way past Claptrap’s myriad insecurities, malware infections, and even the digital avatars of his all-consuming loneliness. Becoming digitized has a few benefits as well: players can make use of a new glitched weapons system to try out even kookier combinations, or jump into the Mutator arena to battle with customizable gravity and enemy lineups.

The Claptastic Voyage will release in a bundle along with the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2, which will let characters advance 10 more levels up to 70 and earn 10 more skill points along the way. The package will release on its own for $9.99 or as part of the $29.99 season pass on March 24.

Both pieces of DLC, along with the rest of the season pass goodies, will be included with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection when it releases on PS4 and Xbox One on March 24 in North America and March 27 elsewhere.
