Interstellar ‘s teaser poster, adaptation news, Da Vinci’s Demons and more

• For a film we still know very little about, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar sure looks intriguing. Ahead of the probable release of the second trailer (which should accompany Godzilla ), the film has unveiled a gorgeous teaser poster that is more than a little Spielberg-ian. Now, along with the exciting cast (featuring the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, and Jessica Chastain) and suggestions of a plot about wormholes, we can start attempting to dissect the tagline “Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter , Transcendence producers Kate Cohen and Marisa Polvino are adapting Richard K. Morgan’s novel Black Man . The 2008 book is a winner of the Arthur C Clarke Award and follows the plight of Carl Marsalis, described by the author as “a bringer of death, a genetic freak and an unwelcome reminder of all that is dark in the human psyche.” Marsalis becomes part of a manhunt when a genetically-engineered man goes on a killing spree across America.

Da Vinci’s Demons has been renewed for a third season, but it’ll be with a new showrunner. THR reports that the always-busy David Goyer is leaving the project in the hands of John Shiban ( Breaking Bad, Hell on Wheels ). In a statement, Goyer said, “I’m very proud of this modern take on the endlessly fascinating Leonardo da Vinci — everyone from the writers, directors, cast and all the crew have been invaluable and will continue to be for what we have ahead.”

• In other adaptation news, Variety has revealed that Game of Thrones star Lena Heady is set to lead the big screen version of Clive Barker’s short story Jacqueline Ess . The story is about a woman who gains the ability to change people’s bodies with her mind. Speaking about the casting, Barker said, “As far as I’m concerned, there is no better choice of actress for the role of Jacqueline. Her beauty and authority will carry the day.”

• With Chris Pratt ( Parks and Recreation ), Judy Greer ( Arrested Development ) and Jake Johnson ( New Girl ) already onboard for Jurassic World, it seems the dinosaur adventure is looking to the stars of small screen comedy. It has added another with the announcement that The Office ’s Andy Buckley will feature. Buckley played the Dunder Mifflin CEO on the sitcom, and also recently appeared in Paul Feig’s comedy The Heat .

• Michel Gondry has told Den of Geek that he’s still working on an adaptation of Philip K Dick’s 1969 novel Ubik . The latest attempt at adapting this project has been in development for three years, and the director admits it’s moving slowly. He said, “I’m still working on it, but it’s taking forever. The book takes you to places you don’t expect to go. It makes it very hard to adapt, so I’m a bit scared at the moment!” The story of the Ubik is a horror tale about people with psychic powers.
