Aliens: Colonial Marines has shot its way to the top of the UK all formats chart.
Retail monitor Chart-Track said the title recorded the biggest launch of 2013 to date and the second highest week one sales for an Alien franchise game, behind Sega’s Aliens vs Predator, which also launched on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in early 2010.
We said in our Aliens: Colonial Marines review: “Gaming owes a lot to James Cameron’s Aliens films, but despite having its DNA present in just about every science fiction game ever made, Aliens has struggled to get a proper one of its own in the past decade. Aliens: Colonial Marines continues this disappointing trend, making for an experience that’s more Aliens: Resurrection than it is Aliens.”
Dead Space 3, which topped the UK chart last week, slipped to No.2 following Colonial Marines’ release, while FIFA 13, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Far Cry 3 rounded off the top five.
