The Walking Dead season 10 gets return date and new synopses

The Walking Dead season 10 is coming back. The iconic series is officially set to return on February 28, 2021, and an official synopsis has been revealed..

The announcement came coupled with a video from a virtual, socially distanced live read from an upcoming episode. The read comes from the upcoming episode “One More” and features several of the cast members doing a read-through of their lines. Robert Patrick, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, and Ross Marquand were all present to give fans an inside look into the production process and a preview of what’s coming in the batch of six episodes.

The preview of the read was available in a shortened clip on Twitter, with an extended version available on the show’s official YouTube channel (opens in new tab). The new episodes will continue season 10, which was originally set to conclude in April 2020, but faced an initial delay due to the COVID pandemic. The “finale” aired instead in October, with the six additional episodes now slated to air in 2021. With this announcement, the rest of the season has an official return date.

Season 10 is adapted from issues 145 through 173 of the original comic book series. The season has been focused on the characters preparing for war against the Whisperers. The official synopses reads: “In these six new episodes, we find our survivors trying to pick themselves up by their bootstraps following the destruction the Whisperers left in their wake. The years of struggle weigh upon them as past traumas surface, exposing their more vulnerable sides.

“As they question the state of humanity, the state of their collective community, and the states of their minds, will they find the inner strength to persevere with their lives, friendships, and group intact?”

The first of the episodes is called “Find Me” and sees an adventure for Daryl and Carol turn “sideways when they come across an old cabin. It takes Daryl back to the years when he left the group after Rick disappeared as he relives a time that only the apocalypse could manifest.”
