The official PS5 website is live, suggesting an imminent announcement

Update: Sony’s PS5 (opens in new tab) homepage on the PlayStation website has been given a minor update.

Following the PS5 new details (opens in new tab)  that were revealed in last week’s Road to PS5 stream, the updated site now reads, “We’ve begun to unveil more details behind the technical and hardware components that make PlayStation 5 such an innovative and powerful platform – the ultra-high-speed SSD, integrated custom I/O system, custom AMD GPU with ray tracing, and highly immersive 3D audio.

“With these capabilities, PS5™ will allow developers to maximize their creativity, building expansive worlds and new play experiences in the games they design. For more details on the technical specs of PS5, visit PlayStation Blog for a developer deep dive from Mark Cerny, lead system architect.”

While there’s no new information in the text that Cerny didn’t discuss last week, it does indicate what topics Sony want to highlight with the PS5 specs (opens in new tab).  The site still allows you to sign up for more information as well.

Original: As initially spotted on Reddit (opens in new tab), both the UK (opens in new tab) and German (opens in new tab) versions of the website are now live, and allow users to sign up for all the latest PS5 news directly via email from PlayStation itself, while once again confirming the product’s logo and Holiday launch window.

PS5 specs (opens in new tab) – what’s inside the next-generation PlayStation console?

“We’ve begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5,” reads the paragraph on PlayStation site, “but we’re not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation. Sign up below to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price (opens in new tab) and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games.”

The appearance of the PS5 page follows Sony’s recent admission (opens in new tab) that it still hasn’t landed on a firm price point for the successor to the PlayStation 4, and is instead waiting to see where Microsoft lands with the official retail cost Xbox Series X (opens in new tab), also slated to release in the upcoming Holiday period.

It’s unclear if this page was meant to go live so early, and seemingly without warning, but it does indeed imply that Sony is gearing up to officially reveal more about the PS5 itself, either via a real time event or an impending State of Play live stream. Either way, we suggest staying tuned to GamesRadar+ for all the latest next-gen news as soon as it arrives.
