Resident Evil 7 Not a Hero DLC delayed with an apology from Capcom and the promise of more add on content

Resident Evil 7 (opens in new tab)’s free ‘Not a Hero’ DLC won’t rise from the grave in time to enjoy the beautiful spring weather, Capcom announced today. It’s the usual reasoning: Capcom didn’t feel the DLC would live up to quality expectations, and so it’s taking some extra time to polish it up before releasing it to the world at a later, unspecified date. What’s a bit unusual is that this announcement came in the form of a three-minute video:

“We’ll do our utmost to develop something great for you, so we ask that you bear with us.”

Y’know, kudos to Capcom for this. They didn’t have to take the time to sit in front of a camera and speak to the fans who bought RE7, but they did. There’s something much more human about this apology than the standard PR releases we often get in our inboxes. And now that I – and judging by the comments on YouTube, plenty of you – aren’t so mad about the delay, mission accomplished, I guess.

The company also promised more DLC down the line, but did not specify if it too would be free, or indeed what it would be about at all.

If these upcoming add-ons live up to the expectations set by Resident Evil 7’s DLC (opens in new tab), I think we’re in for a treat. And if you’re still hunting around the Baker house, don’t worry – we know where all the collectibles are in RE7 (opens in new tab).
