More Making A Murderer episodes are on the way – Spoilers if youve not watched

Spoilers for Netflix’s documentary lie ahead so don’t read anymore if you don’t want to know how the original ten episodes turned out. Yes, real life spoilers.

If you binge watched Making A Murderer and have been clamouring for more info on Steven Avery, the original production team of Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos are working on follow up episodes. The now globally famous trial result is still being contested by legal teams and the next chapter will apparently provide “an in-depth look at the high-stakes post-conviction process as well as the emotional toll the process takes on all involved.”

Avery’s new lawyer, Kathleen Zellner  – who you should definitely be following on Twitter (opens in new tab) – is convinced of Avery’s innocence and has been through all of the evidence shown in the original trial. The documentary will be following her, as well as the legal team of Avery’s nephew Brendan Dassey, and the families close to the case.

Having examined ALL the evidence: #MakingAMurderer got it right. Be very skeptical of these two verdicts. https://t.co/QJuIZoONfFMay 13, 2016

“We are extremely grateful for the tremendous response to, and support of, the series.  The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold” say Ricciardi and Demos. The first series has been nominated for Outstanding Documentary or Non-Fiction Series in this year’s Emmy Awards alongside five other nominations. To keep you company until the follow up episodes arrive, here’s my best crime documentaries to watch after Making A Murderer (opens in new tab).
