Metal Gear Solid 5 still has secrets – like this hidden ending

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain (opens in new tab) seems unknowably huge, but people have been playing and/or datamining it obsessively for almost two weeks. Apparently its bounty of cutscenes, cassettes, and false endings hasn’t quite been laid bare yet, as you can see in the new video embedded below.

Metal Gear community manager Robert Allen Peeler confirmed on Twitter (opens in new tab) that the hidden ending is legit, but that he’d impressed “if someone got this scene naturally, this early.” As you might guess, it is chocked with spoilers – way more than that fun birthday Easter egg (opens in new tab). You’ve been warned.

That doesn’t even begin to address all of the mysterious bits that may not be accessible in the game, like Kiefer Suther reciting the same list of Japanese train station names that have mysteriously recurred throughout the series. I’m starting to think it may be a while before we get all this sorted out…
