Man Of Steel may have played its cards close to its chest so far, but a few intriguing nuggets of info have been revealed via its MPAA rating.
Unsurprisingly, it’s been rated PG-13 (meaning it’ll likely get a 12A in the UK), which positions it within the scope of a wide audience: kids can get in, but it might have a slightly harder edge than fluffier family fare.
According to the MPAA, the PG-13 rating has been given “for intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, and for some language”.
Pretty tantalising, huh? Especially given that the full-length trailer features relatively meagre offerings on the action front, opting to tease rather than deluge with footage.
Perhaps tellingly, Michael Shannon’s big bad, General Zod, is absent for all but one shot of the trailer, meaning we could go into the multiplex with plenty of the good stuff unspoiled, unless there’s a barrage of clips unleashed in the months leading up to the film’s release.
Directed by Watchmen ’s Zack Snyder, Man Of Steel aims to look at Superman through the same reality-focused lens that worked so well for Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Snyder has also hinted at the possibility that MOS will tie into Warner Bros plans for Justice League .
Man Of Steel opens in the UK on 14 June 2013.
