Directorial experimentalist Mike Figgis will helm relationship drama Seconds Of Pleasure , it was revealed during this weekend’s American Film Market event.
The Leaving Las Vegas director, renowned for his boundary-pushing work on the likes of split-screen saga Timecode will be working with a script from the pen of Neil LaBute, based on a book of short stories published under the same title.
What’s more, a stellar cast is already in place, with Christina Hendricks, Kristen Scott Thomas, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Julia Stiles already on board. The film will follow the interweaving lives of three couples travelling on the same aeroplane, so expect at least one more male cast member to be unveiled in due course.
“We’re delighted to be working with Myriad on this fantastic film,” said Margaret Enefer, head of drama at Scottish broadcaster turned production company STV. “Neil has written an incredibly candid, blazingly witty script. We know Mike Figgis will make it shine in the most sensitive and imaginative way possible. It’s a thrill to have them working together with this amazing cast.”
Her sentiments were echoed by Kirk D’Amico, CEO of Myriad Pictures. ““We immediately responded to Neil’s script, which is razor-sharp, so insightful and honest, about the real challenges and temptations people face every day,” he said. “Mike Figgis is the perfect director to bring this script to life, especially with this extraordinary cast.”
