Chris Hemsworth thinks Avengers 4 will be “even more shocking” than Infinity War – and here’s why

Avengers: Infinity War (opens in new tab) was a lot of fun. If, by ‘fun’, you mean it left us silently sobbing into the nearest cinema seat. It destroyed us; it ruined us and, if Chris Hemsworth is to be believed, Avengers: Endgame (opens in new tab) might just finish the job. We had a feeling Marvel might up the ante even more next time around, but the God of Thunder has some very interesting comments as to how they might do so.

Speaking to Esquire (opens in new tab), Hemsworth promises that “if you were shocked by [Infinity War] I think the second one is even more shocking, for other reasons entirely.”

Other reasons entirely, you say? That certainly puts a mental tick in the time travel theory column, should they want to go that way. But shocking sounds ominous. It sounds terrifying. Apocalyptic. My best guess? More deaths – ones we weren’t expecting, and ones that are absolutely permanent this time around. That, or Thanos might live to fight another day. (opens in new tab)

Chris Hemsworth also confirms that the MCU is escalating things even further with Avengers 4 by saying, “[Avengers 4] I’m probably even more excited about. Just for people to see. I just think it’s another step again.”

That’s certainly a bold statement after Marvel has, arguably, been on the best roll yet with Thor: Ragnarok (opens in new tab) being followed by Black Panther (opens in new tab) and, of course, Infinity War. 11 months to go – we’d best start goodbye to each and every Avenger, y’know, just in case.

It’s hard to look beyond it, but Avengers 4 is just one of many new Marvel movies (opens in new tab) heading our way very soon…
