Catfish directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have been hired by Paramount to direct the third Paranormal Activity .
While plot details are characteristically scarce at this early point in production, Variety report that the film is being set up as an origin story set in the 1980s revolving around a new family.
Joost and Schulman hit the big time on the festival circuit last year with their documentary Catfish , which charted their efforts to track down a woman Schulman’s brother had met online.
The controversy surrounding the legitimacy of their film as a documentary certainly makes them an interesting choice for the Paranormal Activity franchise.
If nothing else, Paramount can clearly trust that the filmmakers will keep their mouths shut on the threequel’s secrets.
With Paranormal Activity 3 set to hit screens on 11 October, though, they’ve got a fair bit of work cut out for them.
