Call of Duty: Warzone has now banned over 500,000 cheaters

Call of Duty: Warzone (opens in new tab) co-developer Raven Software has revealed that over 500,000 cheaters have been banned from the battle royale’s servers.

In a recent tweet from the studio’s official social media channel, Raven said that after banning over 30,000 “malicious accounts” on May 13, that brings the total number of bans to “over half a million accounts”.

Many of the responses to the tweet are complaining about the bans, most of which insist they’ve done nothing wrong and were only banned because an unscrupulous player had hijacked their accounts.

No doubt in an effort to refrain from publicizing cheating methods or means, the developer stopped short of revealing what kind of behavior would result in a ban, and it didn’t clarify what proportion of that 500,000 could be attributed to the different platforms the free-to-play game is available upon to play.

ICYMI, a Call of Duty: Warzone Rambo skin is officially on the way (opens in new tab), and leakers have discovered that he’ll be joined by Die Hard’s own John McClane. On Friday, Activision shared a teaser image for Call of Duty Presents: ’80s Action Heroes (opens in new tab), including a teaser image that features John Rambo, a trio of operators, and an explosion at the top of a building that looks very much like Nakatomi Plaza from the original Die Hard. The special event will go live in Warzone, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Call of Duty Mobile on May 20.

While Activision isn’t showing any in-game images of the event yet, a pair of off-screen images shared on Twitter by user CODWarfareForum show the Rambo and McClane skins wielding rifles in two side-by-side shots. The resemblance to both characters is pretty clear, with McClane in his signature vest and Rambo sporting his iconic red headband.
