The developer of Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is reorganizing to focus on downloadable and mobile games. Nihilistic Software announced on its website last night that it will become nStigate Software, a smaller studio which will move away from the retail space.

Nihilistic said it has no plans for layoffs or emerging from the situation with any debt, though it will “get leaner as some of our talent finds new homes, and emerge as a smaller and more focused company.” Nihilistic had been around for 14 years, in that time working on Resistance: Burning Skies, PlayStation Move Heroes, and the indefinitely delayed Starcraft Ghost, among others.

LightBox Interactive, another formerly Sony-contracted developer, yesterday announced 24 layoffs and a similar change in focus from consoles to mobile.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is scheduled to launch on PlayStation Vita alongside Black Ops 2 on November 13.
