Honour review

A serious subject receives a simplistic treatment in an ill-conceived thriller in which the emotive (and timely) issue of honour killings becomes just another plot device.

No wonder Paddy Considine looks so glum as the nameless bounty hunter with a shady past – brought in to locate a missing Muslim girl (Aiysha Hart) whose family would rather see her dead than with the man she’s chosen.

Employing a splintered, jumbled-up chronology earns first-time feature director Shan Khan some brownie points on the presentation front.

Ultimately, alas, his sensationalist attempt at button-pushing is as unconvincing as the Glasgow exteriors he tries to pass off as London.
