Fortnite raptors – how to find and tame dinosaurs

Fortnite raptors are the newest arrival to the roster of wildlife, but they’re by far the most dangerous so don’t underestimate them if you see some Fortnite dinosaurs roaming the island. They join the much less aggressive chickens, frogs, and boars that we’re already familiar with, and are challenging the Fortnite wolves for top spot on the list of apex predators in the battle royale. So what do you need to know about this prehistoric Fortnite fauna? The main takeaway is that despite being hostile beasts in general, you can tame Fortnite raptors and turn that rage on your opponents instead, and we’ve got all the details on where to find them and how to do that.

We’ve marked a number of Fortnite raptors spawn locations that have been discovered on the map above, although these don’t always guarantee you’ll find one there. There’s a certain random element to where the Fortnite dinosaurs will appear, especially as they roam around the island, though anecdotally there may be more likely to spawn near the eggs they’ve hatched from. Keep an eye out for a pair of Fortnite raptors as they always roam in pairs, so if you do find one there’ll be another close behind. We’ve had most luck so far encountering them around Stealthy Stronghold, in the northwest corner of the map.

Taming Fortnite raptors is fairly simple, but you need to have some raw meat or fish in your inventory to throw for them to eat. When the Fortnite dinosaurs start chomping on the food, you can slowly approach and interact with the Fortnite raptor to attempt to tame it. Make sure you have enough food though – one piece likely won’t cut it. Alternatively, you can use the Hunter’s Cloak item to tame one, but you’ll need to kill some other wild animals first to craft that.

Fortnite raptors are the strongest animal in the game so if you’re unable to tame one right away, make sure you’ve got a shotgun or another powerful weapon equipped to blast them in the face when they attack. If you do manage to tame it though, these Fortnite dinosaurs prove to be a loyal companion in fights.
